Connect your phone to an inbox.
Paste the receiving URL.
Install the APK. Add an Inbox.Cheap destination and paste your private URL. Create a rule, grant SMS permission, and explicitly enable forwarding.
Send a test.
Tap Send test in the app. Then send an ordinary SMS to your own phone. The console shows the first successful upload, and the message appears in your inbox.

Android 17 and protected verification messages
Android restricts access to some OTP messages. WebOTP / SMS Retriever protections can apply regardless of an app’s target SDK. For apps targeting API 37+, ordinary OTP messages may also be withheld for three hours unless an exemption applies. Inbox.Cheap SMS does not bypass those protections. Delivery of every verification message is not guaranteed. See Android’s official compatibility documentation.
Permissions, background operation and battery policies
SMS permission is required for new incoming messages. Notifications show when forwarding is enabled. Sideloaded apps may require you to review restricted settings in Android app info. Manufacturer battery controls, network access and Android scheduling may delay delivery. Pending deliveries retry with backoff, expire after 24 hours, and are cleared when you pause forwarding.
Installation and updates
Download the APK, allow installation from this browser when Android prompts, and open the app. This is a separate app from the Inbox.Cheap mail reader and the original SMSForwarder app. Keep the mail reader installed if you use it. Updating this SMS app uses the same publisher signature and preserves its local settings.
Does this include RCS, MMS or old messages?
No. This version handles newly received SMS broadcasts made available by Android. It does not import history, read RCS chats, receive MMS attachments or send outgoing SMS.
YOU CHOOSE WHAT LEAVES THE PHONE
SMS can include sensitive information.
Forwarding is off by default. Review the notice, choose a destination and an enabled rule, then turn it on. An empty keyword matches all new SMS, so use narrow rules where possible.
On your device
Credentials and queued SMS are encrypted with a key held in Android Keystore. Pending uploads are kept for at most 24 hours (removed on subsequent processing/cleanup). Activity logs omit SMS bodies. Automatic app backup is disabled.
Inbox.Cheap uploads
Sender, message body, receiver label and device timestamp are uploaded over HTTPS. Phone labels are supplied by you; number ownership is not verified. The phone connection credential is stored only as a hash on our server.
Storage and access
Uploaded SMS use our encrypted message storage and your normal retention settings. This is not end-to-end encryption. Messages can be read through your account and scoped keys. Phone inboxes cannot have public sharing links.
Revoke and delete
Pause forwarding to clear the phone’s pending uploads. Revoke a receiving URL in the console to stop new uploads. Stored SMS remain until you delete them or your retention policy removes them. Revoking access alone does not erase messages.
Custom webhooks send directly from your phone to your chosen provider; their terms and privacy practices apply. Treat receiving URLs and bot URLs as secrets. Full Privacy Policy · Terms of Service
